General Questions
What experiences do you offer at Predator Park?
We offer two unique experiences – Walking with Wolves and The Static Wolf Encounter. Both are designed to offer meaningful, respectful encounters with predators in a natural setting.
What can I expect from the wolves?
Our wolves live in a secure woodland habitat where they can express natural behaviours. They are social animals with strong pack bonds. Visitors often witness them howling, playing or resting together. Every interaction is on their terms, and that’s what makes it so powerful.
Are the experiences run in groups?
Yes, both experiences involve small group settings.
Can I stay in one place during the session?
Only The Static Wolf Encounter allows for this. Walking with Wolves involves walking and active participation. The Static Wolf Encounter is perfect for those who prefer to remain stationary during the session.
Are you a zoo?
We are a fully licensed zoo under Westmorland and Furness Council, but we are far from traditional. Our focus is on welfare, education and conservation. We prioritise psychological and physical wellbeing with natural habitats and enrichment-based care.
What conservation work do you support?
We work closely with organisations such as the Hedgehog Preservation Society and Cumbria Wildlife. We also support global initiatives focused on wolf conservation, endangered birds of prey, and wider rewilding efforts both in the UK and internationally.
Booking & pricing
How far in advance should I book?
Our experiences book up quickly, particularly on weekends and during peak times. Weekdays are typically available around one month in advance, while weekends may need booking two to three months ahead.
Can I turn up without a booking?
No, all our experiences must be booked in advance. We’re unable to accommodate walk-ins.
Can I visit the site for a look around before booking?
We’re sorry, but we do not offer casual visits. All access to the site is by pre-booked experience only.
Can I buy a gift voucher?
Yes, experience vouchers are available and valid for 12 months. They are emailed instantly. Vouchers make a perfect gift for birthdays, anniversaries, or as a special treat.
Can I buy your experience through a third party?
No, our experiences are exclusively available to purchase directly through us. This allows us to offer you the best possible price, service, and uncompromised experience.
What should I expect once I've paid?
You will receive a booking confirmation by email, which includes directions and all the information you need for your visit.
Are there age restrictions?
Yes. For insurance purposes, all participants must be aged 16 or over. Those aged between 16 to 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone aged 18 or over can attend unaccompanied.
We may ask for ID if there is any uncertainty about age, so please bring proof with you.
Currently there are no experiences or activities suitable for under 16s.
Planning Your Visit
Where are you located?
We are in Ayside, near Grange-over-Sands in the Lake District. Your booking confirmation will include detailed directions.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are not allowed on the experience or in the visitor centre. If you are travelling with a dog, they may remain in your vehicle, only if the weather is cool and they are safe and comfortable. Please note there is no guaranteed shade in our car park.
COMING SOON – Dog walking service by prior arrangement.
Can I bring my motorhome or caravan?
Yes, but please be aware that access to the site is via a country lane. The track is narrow, with a road width of 2.4 metres, and is suitable only for vehicles no larger than a standard transit van. Parking is available on the outskirts of the village for larger vehicles.
We recommend contacting the office in advance for further details and guidance if you are concerned.
Is Predator Park accessible?
We welcome everyone and aim to make our experiences as inclusive as possible. While we are an outdoor site, we have good general access and will do our best to accommodate individual needs. If you have any concerns or individual requirements, please contact us before booking.
Alternatively, see our page Find Your Experience.
Is there anything I should bring?
Dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear, as our experiences take place outdoors. Avoid wearing anything you’re precious about – things can get muddy. You’re welcome to bring a phone or camera to capture the moment.
Is there anything I shouldn’t wear or bring?
Do not wear leather jackets, fur-lined items, dangling clothing or jewellery including hooped earrings or loose accessories.
Can I take photographs?
Yes, photography is welcome during all experiences for non-commercial use, unless stated otherwise by your guide. Our wolves are naturally photogenic, especially when basking on their warm stones or exploring their woodland home.
Can I smoke or vape on site?
No. Smoking and vaping are strictly not permitted anywhere on site. This is to ensure the wellbeing of our animals, staff, and all visitors. Thank you for your understanding.
Late arrivals and scheduling
What happens in inclement weather?
Our experiences go ahead in most weather conditions, including rain. We recommend dressing appropriately for the outdoors. If severe weather is forecast and may impact safety or access, we will contact you to discuss alternative arrangements.
What happens if extreme weather is forecast?
We are not a fair-weather experience and do not cancel due to rain. However, if extreme weather is forecast, ie storms or hot weather which may affect the wolves, guest safety, access or animal welfare, we will contact you directly to reschedule your visit.
If rescheduling your visit may be difficult, we would encourage you to insure your experience.
Please note that we do not offer refunds due to weather conditions.
What happens if I am late for my experience?
Our experiences run as group sessions and start promptly. You must arrive at least 15 minutes before your session begins to take part in the safety briefing. If you miss this, you are unable to join the session for insurance purposes.
If you arrive late, we may not be able to accommodate you on a later experience.
Please allow plenty of time for your journey, and if you are travelling from further afield, consider arriving in the area the day before and if this is not possible insuring your experience.
Accessibility, Health & Suitability
What if I need medical inhalers or essential medication?
Medical inhalers and essential medication are absolutely allowed. Please just let your guide know at the start of the experience so we’re aware and can support you if needed.
I'm unsure if I need to let you know about a medical condition
If you’re not sure, it’s always best to let us know – in confidence. Sharing any relevant information helps us support you safely and appropriately during your experience. Better safe than sorry.
What if I have health concerns or reduced stamina?
Walking with Wolves is not recommended if you have reduced stamina or strength. The Static Wolf Encounter offers a more accessible alternative. Please contact us to discuss any specific needs.
What if I have a medical vulnerability or condition?
It’s always best to let us know in advance if you have a medical vulnerability or condition. Walking with Wolves is very likely not to be suitable depending on your individual circumstances, so please feel free to contact us in confidence to discuss. The Static Wolf Encounter is likely to be more appropriate, and sharing any relevant information helps us ensure your safety and comfort throughout your visit.
See our Find your Experience page for more information.
Can I take part if I’m pregnant?
We’re sorry, but neither experience is suitable during pregnancy.
Are your experiences physically demanding?
It depends on the experience you choose.
For Walking with Wolves you should be physically fit and comfortable walking unaided on uneven, hilly terrain and over countryside paths.
The Static Wolf Encounter is not physically demanding. This option involves minimal movement and is suitable for those who prefer to remain in one location.
Do I need strength or stamina?
It varies depending on the experience. Walking with Wolves requires a moderate level of physical activity and average strength, making it better suited to those who are confident with movement and stamina. In contrast, The Static Encounter is ideal for those with limited strength or stamina, offering a more accessible and less physically demanding option.
What kind of mobility is required?
Mobility needs differ between the two experiences. Walking with Wolves is best suited to those who are steady on their feet and able to walk reasonable distances unaided over uneven ground. The Static Wolf Encounter, on the other hand, is more appropriate for individuals with limited mobility or those who may be unsteady on their feet.
Will I need to follow verbal instructions?
Verbal instructions are required for both experiences, but at different levels. Walking with Wolves requires you to understand, retain and follow instructions given at the beginning and followed throughout the experience. The Static Wolf Encounter is more suitable for those who may find fast-paced or complex instructions challenging to follow or retain. It is also appropriate for those who require a carer, though please note that due to limited capacity, we are unable to offer free entry for carers.
Do I need to manage independently?
A degree of independence is required for both experiences, but especially for Walking with Wolves, where you need to feel confident managing your own wellbeing in open, natural environments. The Static Wolf Encounter is more suitable for those who may need additional support or require a carer. Please note that due to limited capacity, we are unable to offer free entry for carers.
What if I have a learning difficulty or neurological condition?
If you have a learning difficulty or neurological condition, please let us know so we can support you appropriately to ensure you get the most out of your experience with us. Walking with Wolves may not be suitable if your condition affects behaviour, communication or responses, as wolves can react to behavioural differences. The Static Wolf Encounter is often more appropriate and can be better tailored to individual needs. Please inform us in advance if you would like to discuss any specific requirements.
Can I bring a carer or support person?
Yes, you can bring a carer or support person, but please review the details for each experience. Walking with Wolves can accommodate carers to attend if they meet the same physical and safety requirements as other participants. The Static Wolf Encounter is often more suitable if you require a carer, but please note that due to limited capacity, we are unable to offer free entry.
