Protecting the balance of the wild

Welcome to our wolf sanctuary

Predators are nature’s great balancers. They are not the monsters of myth, but essential parts of healthy ecosystems. Without them, nature falters. Populations grow unchecked, habitats suffer and biodiversity declines. Yet for centuries, humans have feared what they did not understand. Predators, and wolves in particular, have been hunted, driven out and erased from the land.

At Predator Park, it is time to change the story. Wolves are not ruthless killers. They are intelligent, deeply social animals that live in tight-knit family groups, each member playing a role. Their presence in the wild helps control prey populations, allowing landscapes to thrive.

Our conservation work focuses on more than protection. It is about education on rewilding, on trophic cascades and the role generally of predators in ecostructures. Helping people see predators not as enemies, but as guardians of the wild. Through guided experiences, school visits and public talks, we aim to shift the fear-based narrative and replace it with understanding and respect, one experience at a time.

Are there wild wolves in the UK?

Wild wolves in the UK are long gone, but their spirit remains at Predator Park in Cumbria. Through our secure woodland habitat, people can observe wolves natural behaviours, understand their importance and be inspired to take action. From rewilding gardens to supporting larger initiatives, everyone has a role to play. Wild wolves may be gone but we can learn to understand, respect and coexist with the remaining predators that inhabit our countryside.

Predator Park stands as a voice for all predators. A place where myths and misinformation are challenged, and nature and truth are allowed to lead. Conservation begins with connection. When people see wolves as they truly are – calm, curious, loyal – something truly changes.

That change is what all our futures depends on.
